Creating a Peaceful Learning Environment

It’s that time of the year again. Summer is ending and school days are approaching. That means new school supplies, new clothes, new shoes, but more importantly a new room! There is nothing better than starting the school year with a freshly designed room. Check out these simple and easy steps you and your child can follow so your child’s room is just as ready as they are for the new school year.

Step 1: Declutter and Organize

The most important key to creating the best learning space is getting rid of clutter. Out with the old in with the new! Sort through items in closets, drawers, and desks that will no longer be of use. Options are endless when creating an organized study space. Functional desk space can be incorporated into a room in many ways. If your child has a current desk but want to put their own touch on it, consider a fun desk chair to add color and an updated look. Create organization around the desk by adding shelves, cork boards and white boards. In addition, have your child pick out a fun decorative desk lamp to add personality.

Step 2: Find Your Color

As your child grows up, the possibilities of their favorite color changing can be a design opportunity. Changing the color of a room can completely transform the feel and energy of a bedroom. Encourage your child’s independence by allowing them to pick colors in accordance to their preference. When picking colors, consider how the color might affect your child. Blue for example, is a calming and cool color. It fosters tranquility and trust. While orange stimulates confidence and success. Painting and adding accent colors to a bedroom with pillows, blankets, accessories and art are an affordable way to update and bring a bedroom alive.

Step 3: Snooze in Comfort

The most important part of your child’s day is when they hit the hay. If your child is growing out of their small bed, consider investing in a bed the next size up! Use your child’s bed as the focal point of their room. Have them pick out new bedding that they love. This will make them never want to leave their room!

Step 4: Don’t Forget About Yourself

Moms and dads, don’t forget about yourselves. Back-to-school season can be just as hectic for you, and it is important to take some time for yourself. Consider creating a space in your household to reflect, relax, and rejuvenate. This can be in a little nook where you can grab a book and read, or flip a spare bedroom into a quiet getaway. Creating a space for yourself will allow you to also start the year off on the right foot.
